Is Jussie Smollett gay in real life?
To all those wondering ‘is Jussie Smollett really gay?’, we are here to inform you that he is, in fact, really gay. However, unlike most public personalities that tend to make a show out of their coming out of the closet, things were different with Jussie.
For many years, Jussie preferred not to share the details of his personal life. He tended to avoid provocative questions and never posted pictures of his significant other(s). But things changed a few years ago.
Instead of making a very loud and public proclamation of his sexual orientation, the actor did it almost matter-of-factly. In March 2015, he opened up about his personal life in a backstage interview with a famous American talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres. Smollett stated that he did not really believe in the concept of the closet, but he still wanted to address the matter of his sexual orientation publicly.
Since then, Jussie also admitted that he might not actually be ‘100% gay’. He revealed that he does not deny the possibility of falling in love with a woman during his lifetime. According to the actor, human sexual orientation is fluid, which means that it might change and shift depending on the time and situation. So, to all of you lady fans of Jussie, do not lose hope!
After coming out publicly, Jussie Smollett decided to use his position to help his fellow people. He has joined forces with Phil Wilson, a well-known African-American AIDS activist, and the Black AIDS Institute to battle HIV/AIDS.
The goal of the Institute is to stop the HIV/AIDS epidemic, as LGBTQ+ people of colour are the most vulnerable to it in the context of the United States. Smollett’s role in the project is to host events, raise funds, raise awareness about HIV/AIDS among American people of colour and encourage them to get tested.
When asked why he wanted to do this, the actor shared that he wanted to use his fame to attract attention to the issue that was very important and personal to him. Jussie said that he has lost people to AIDS and wanted to help save others from the same heartbreak. Besides, being black and gay, he wanted to use his platform as a means of starting a conversation about HIV/AIDS.
No matter who Jussie ends up with, we hope that the actor will be really happy with them. At the end of the day, it is his personal life, and we should not pry too much into it. Nevertheless, here is to hoping that one day he will return to his social media to announce his engagement or something 🙂
